Feeling the Way Through It

A part of Cassidy had hoped when she returned to her quarters after the staff meeting, she would be able to return to bed. Unfortunately, a larger part of her knew if they were being summoned from sleep, whatever they were about to face what is going to require everyone to hit the ground running and to sacrifice sleep for as long as it took to address the problem.

Still, it was hard to know where to start. It was the secrecy that bothered Cassidy most. What sort of problem could require such discretion? She wouldn't think a people in such desperation would have time to consider such concerns. It wasn't natural for a counselor to think in such terms, but she couldn't help but wonder if they were walking into a trap. The crew was certainly motivated to help those in need, which could be seen as a weakness by anyone looking to take advantage of a situation. The therapist knew it was unfair to jump to such conclusions until they had more information, but Cassidy couldn't entirely ignore the uneasy feeling she felt.

Then, of course, there were the medical needs to be considered. She had been asked to not only oversee the psychological needs involved, but also the medical needs. With a little information they did have, that would prove challenging enough since Cassidy hadn't had an occasion to meet a representative from any bird like species, and she had no idea what complexities she was about to encounter. Her only choice was to do as much research as she could and learn the rest as it came.

While she knew she was capable of doing research on her own, considering the circumstances, she decided two heads were better than one. It was time to get reinforcements.
